Dental veneers are thin plates that we put on the front of natural and healthy teeth as one of the most effective solutions for the complete transformation of a smile. They ensure a beautiful, dazzling smile and are one of the most popular procedures in aesthetic dentistry.
What are dental veneers?
In recent years, dental veneers have given rise to the popularity of a term around the world – the “Hollywood smile”, a smile synonymous with irresistibly white and perfectly aligned teeth with no gaps. They are also called “facets” or “shells” and are made of ceramic as the highest quality solution or composite material (material used to make white fillings).
The procedure requires no or minimal grinding of the front wall of the tooth, depending on the individual case, the financial possibilities and the agreement between dentist and patient.
One of the main advantages of veneers over other prosthetic tooth replacement solutions is that it requires a minimal enamel grinding process (only the surface layer of the tooth). In some cases, such as with the “Non-Prep” method, no pre-grinding is required at all.
Veneers are a great long-term solution, because with regular oral hygiene and routine visits to the dentist, you don’t have to be afraid of pigment spots, which are mostly caused by smoking, alcohol, coffee and tea consumption or simply by individual lifestyle.
Process of installing dental veneers
1
INITIAL EXAMINATION AND DIGITAL SMILE DESIGN
During the first visit to our Smile Polyclinic, we will thoroughly examine the entire buccal cavity and make a diagnosis, based on which we will create your individual treatment plan.
In the consultation, we go into all your wishes and options to put a beautiful smile back on your face. We will create a series of photos that we need to simulate your future smile in our Digital Smile Design program.
Instead of a classic impression and panoramic X-rays, we create a digital scan of your jaw. After that, we analyse the current state and future appearance of the smile.
2
TESTING YOUR FUTURE SMILE
When you have discussed all the details of the appearance of your future smile with the dentist, we will start to make the so-called wax-up model in our modern and fully equipped laboratory. With the help of this model you can try the future smile in your mouth (this is also called mock-up) before we start grinding. In other words, at this point the patient can roughly see (and feel) what his or her future smile will look like.
3
TEETH GRINDING AND IMPRESSION
The next step is minimal grinding of the tooth surface of 0.3 to 0.8 mm. We then take an impression and make provisional veneers (mock-up) to protect the grounded teeth from negative influences. The production of ceramic shells can take 7 to 10 days, after which you come to the final testing and cementing of the work.
4
TESTING OF VENEERS AND PERMANENT CEMENTATION
The final step is dedicated to trying out the veneers. If no corrections are required, the veneers are permanently cemented using special techniques. You leave our clinic with a new smile, satisfied and happy.
Am I eligible for veneers?
Again, the most important first step is a thorough examination so that the dentist can determine whether or not you are a candidate for veneers.
Dental veneers are the best solution:
- If you want to correct the colour of your teeth
- If you want to correct the tooth shape
- If you want to correct gaps between teeth
- If you want to lengthen a shorter tooth
- If you want to replace obsolete and bad fillings
- If you want to close tooth gaps
- If you want to repair minor damages, such as chipped or worn teeth

Types of dental veneers
Ceramic veneers
Ceramic as a material is biocompatible, which means that it does not trigger any allergic reactions in the body and gives patients the look and feel of natural teeth. Dental enamel can be pigmented and stained with a very wide range of shades of natural tooth colours to suit the needs and desires of each patient.
Before installing the ceramic veneers, the teeth need to be ground down a little, from 0.3 to 0.7 mm. The tooth stays healthy and no gums are lost. A testing can be done before the final veneers are placed. With regular and proper oral hygiene, veneers can last more than 10 years.
Ceramic veneers are thin replacements or plates. They are one of the most modern approaches to solving aesthetic problems in modern dentistry. The use of porcelain veneers causes the least damage to the dental enamel while maintaining a completely natural appearance of the teeth.
NON PREP veneers without grinding
In certain situations it is possible to insert veneers without grinding the dental enamel. In other words, the veneer is placed directly on the healthy tooth.
We call this type of veneer “Non-Prep-Veneers”. They are most often used in cases where the patient wants to slightly increase the volume of the teeth or make small corrections to the position and colour of the teeth.
Composite veneers
As the name suggests, they are made of composite material or material for the production of aesthetic, white fillings using the so-called free-hand bonding technique. The biggest advantage of composite veneers is that they can be applied in just one visit and without collaborating with a dental laboratory.
The result is a beautiful, refreshing smile, but it should be noted that the quality is slightly lower than ceramic. This also affects the durability of the veneers and discoloration over time due to the inability to withstand stain and smear from food colouring, beverages (e.g. coffee and tea) or cigarettes.
The cost of dental veneers
The cost of dental veneers in the Smile Polyclinic starts from € 244.00 per veneer. This is the price for first-class ceramic veneers made from the highest quality zirconium ceramics from the world-renowned manufacturer Ivoclar Vivadent (Liechtenstein).
If the whole set is installed, the price will be lower due to approved discounts. Usually the whole set consists of ten veneers. If the total amount of the estimate is more than € 1,000.00, we will give you an additional discount to lower the total price of the dental veneers.
QUALITY AND MATERIAL GUARANTEE
At Smile Polyclinic, for the manufacture of veneers we only use high-quality materials from the world-renowned manufacturers Ivoclar Vivadent from Liechtenstein and DeguDent Dentsply Sirona from Germany.
The veneers are manufactured in our digital dental laboratory using latest computer technology (CAD-CAM) for highest manufacturing precision. Ceramic veneers are not permanent, but with proper care, they can last more than 15 years.
